Above all, the roads are wide: main thoroughfares feature three lanes in each direction, while residential streets have two lanes per side—so I have never once encountered morning rush-hour traffic.
On the sidewalks—which are rarely crowded—everyone passing by—whether children, young adults, or the elderly—waves a hand in greeting.
Even in the residential areas, people working around their homes will wave to say hello.
